Newell French Bistro now has a private dining area (that can accommodate up to 30 people)  that we’ve called The Nicolas Room.
Iconic lithograpghs by illustrator Paul Iribe, and published in 1930 by Etablissments Nicolas, line the room's walls.

At The Nicolas Room we only offer a family style menu that costs £36.50 per person.

Please choose 4 of the following starters;
1. Charcuterie plate
2. Mixed hors d’oeuvres
(Grated carrots, celeriac remoulade, leeks vinaigrette, egg mayonnaise etc.)

3. Smoked salmon mousse
4. Baked mushrooms, garlic puree
5. Shallot crumble (October to March only)
6. Piedmont peppers (April to September only)
7. Salad Vienna - green bean salad with sweet and sour onions
8. Chicken liver mousse, fig and prune compote
9. Pumkin & saffron risotto

Please choose 3 of the following main courses;
1. Aioli – poached salted-cod with various vegetable & garlic mayonnaise (Summer)
2. Cod, herb butter sauce
3. Hake, braised tomato and fennel sauce
4. Pork belly, apple gravy
5. Vitello tonnato – cold poached veal with tuna sauce (April to July only)
6. Roast veal rump, mushroom sauce
7. Roast sirloin, pepper sauce
8. Roast lamb rump, shallot sauce

Then choose one of the following potato/ farinaceous dishes;
1. Gratin Dauphinoise – sliced potatoes, baked in cream
2. Pomme Anna – deep-fried potato “cake”
3. Gnocchi Romana - semolina gnocchi from Rome, via Sherborne
4. Parmesan risotto
5. Chips

And then choose 2 of the following vegetables;
1. Green beans with flaked almonds
2. Carrots “Vichy”
3. Baked beans with chorizo
4. Braised red cabbage with apples
5. Brussels sprouts (November & December only)
6. Cauliflower “Polonaise” – hard-boiled egg yolks, parley & breadcrumbs
7. Baked mushrooms, garlic puree
8. Buttered Puy lentils with parsley and sorrel
9. Braised endives

Desserts - Please choose 3 of the following desserts;
1. Crème brulée
2. Tira-mi-su
3. Mulled Agen prunes, yoghurt & white chocolate mousse
4. Bonet – a chocolate crème caramel
5. Delice Joconde – hazelnut sponge, chocolate & praline mousse
6. Chocolate pot
7. Iced nougat, raspberry sauce
8. Rum baba
9. Santiago tart – almond tart
10. Cheese selection
11. Coeur à la crème, raspberry sauce.
